"Those darn cows!" said Tod. "I wish they'd just get lost!" But when the cows do get lost, it's up to Tod Bean, his sister Jen Bean, and their black dog Zip to find them and bring them home. Tod and Jen learn that on a farm, everyone helps. Short chapters and easy-to-read text make this story a perennial favourite.
"A satisfying rural story, both as a picture book and as a beginning reader."
- Ottawa Citizen
"Pair this story with to introduce children to classic stories set in the countryside."

Originally published in 1979 and 1980 as part of the "Kids of Canada" series, Six Darn Cows and Anna's Pet have both been long out of print. Now these two Canadian classics have been repackaged for a new generation of beginning readers....these two titles are perfect for children almost ready for chapter books. They also have nostalgic appeal for many parents as well. Highly Recommended. Linda Ludke is a librarian in London, ON.
